I know that I told you some pairs during lunch, but I took the liberty of searching some more up for you. Sorry to force you into this Haunted Mansion History lesson, but it's easer to understand this way. What you must understand is that there are four Haunted Mansion legends. The fandom, the Disneyland/Walt Disney World legends, movie legends, and the newest, comic legend. So...what's the difference? A lot. First off, the Disneyland/Walt Disney World legend. It's actually very simple. The Haunted Mansion is a retirement home. Actually, this storyline is in all the versions, but that's all of the theme park legends. Disneyland is a bit different as they have a official name and storyline for the bride. Constance is a ax-welding murder bride who has married five husbands and hacked off their heads just for their money though they are given names and faces, we have no idea of their personalites and occupations and if Constance now owns the house. But actually, in the early days of the Haunted Mansion, Disney did release a book full of possible storylines emphasing that the storyline is up for your imagination to fill out. Out of these stories were about one young girl who married a sea captain. He built a house for her and left to the sea. He warned her never to enter the attic. Gone for a year, the girl supposed her love died at sea. Going up to the attic, she opened a truck and discovered he was the bloodthirsty priate Captain Bloodmore. He had come back home that day and come up to the attic to discover her. This is where the story differs. There are stories that she was walled in, thrown into a well and drowned, or had her head hacked off. This is how it always ends. Sad that he killed his true love, the captain hung himself. Another story is about two lovers getting married. While the groom was coming up to the attic, he saw his bride and another man. He had a bad temper and he assumed that his bride was cheating on him. He threw her out the window and she died instantly. It was then he learned the the other man was simply a hat shop clerk who had come to give her her wedding viel. Ashamed at his temper, he hung himself. Course, Disney hasn't stopped there. They also made a (in a lot of people's opinion) horrible movie. The legend goes that two Juliet and Romeo-like lovers fall in love. One is Elizabeth and the other Edward. Elizabeth is of low class and is black, but Edward is rich and white. Despite this they want to get married. To avoid Edward as he puts it "ruining his own life", Ramsley, Edward's butler, poisons her drink at the Mardi Gras ball. Devasted, Edward hangs himself. The newest, but a fandom in its own right is the comics. There aren't many couples, but The Headless Knight and Madame Leota. Their legend is that Master Gracey is a priate and originally bought the house because he thought the spirits would be fun. The most popular is fandom. Fandom started at Walt Disney World's Haunted Mansion. The Haunted Mansion made up stories for the ghosts and put it on the web, members.aol.com/HtdMsn/gallery.html. That's how it got so popular and is often considered the "Official Unofficial Haunted Mansion Storyline." Master Gracey is a real player. First, his true love Lily Gracey was his first wife. He got obsessed with the occult and hired Madam Leota to help him contact the spirits. Leota only accepted because she wanted his money. While Lily was performing a circus trick for their friends (walking on a tightrope over a river), Leota cut the rope and it turned out the river was infested with crocodiles. Lily was eaten alive. Leota was hoping to seduce George, but he simply didn't have a lot of money anymore. Instead, she convinced him to marry his distant cousin Emily for more money. Emily was a childish young girl of 16 when they married and wanted to play hide and seek on their honeymoon at the mansion. George agreed and she hid in the trunk in the attic. Leota locked it without George knowing and Emily suffocated. Depressed at losing two wives, George was seduced by Leota who gave birth to a child for him, Little Leota. She hoped that he would take pity on her to get their names on his will. George denied being the father and the plan was foiled. His last wife was Constance. There is no official unofficial for this part of the story. It's either like my story or like the original where Leota tried to curse George to her crystal ball, but the spell rebounded on her when George hung himself. Little Leota had a few romances too, but I feel that I filled up your head too much so I'll stop there.
