“Ready to scare some fresh meat?” Jacob Hamiliton laughed as he and a group of soon to be seniors got ready for their freshman camp out scare. It was a tradition. Every year, before the start of the new school year, the school would take the incoming freshman on a camp out. It was also tradition that the soon to be seniors sneak up and wake all the freshman for a nighttime scare around the camp fire. Todd Williams, Jacob’s friend, just smiled and nodded, turning off his flashlight. They had noted where the teachers tents were and didn’t go around them as they entered the other tents to wake the sleeping campers. They would walk in, shine the flash light in their faces, tell them to get up and go outside or else. And, dealing with the guys doing this, you didn’t want to know what the or else was. So, scared and confused, the freshman got up and walked outside. Another one of the boys had a fire going and instructed them to sit.
“As you know, this year you will be attending Valley Hills High School.” Jacob started. “This is tradition that the new seniors warn the freshman about the school before they get there. I am sure you all have heard of the cliques and how strong they are, but that isn’t why we are here tonight. Do any of you know the ledged of our high school?” Jacob asked. A few of the kids nodded, but nobody said a word. “Well, back about sixty years ago there was this clique. Or, I guess you could call it that. They were a lot like the gothics, but somehow different. There leader was named Melody Shimer and, they say, she was the most vicious girl you would have ever met in your life. People swore she was a witch. Her and her clique didn’t talk to anyone other their than people of their kind. Strange thing was, more and more people started to join them. Footballers, Cheerleaders, Nerds, and even Geeks. Right after Christmas break of Melody’s senior year there was a rumor that started. It said that Melody and her crew were going to blow up the school, killing everyone in it. The students that this clique hadn’t got a hold of paniced. They knew that Melody had to be stopped. At the dance that next Saturday, they lured Melody and her gang off into the basement. Once they got them there the locked all the doors and set fire to the basement. If you go down there today you can still see some of the ash marks on the walls. Strange thing happened though. When the fire department put out the fire and got to checking, there were sign that anybody had been hurt or killed in that fire. It was as they had disappeared. Now, the kids at VHS really didn’t think anything about it. As long as Melody and her clique was gone, everything was okay, right? Over the course of the next few weeks, strange things begin to happen. One day, a girl went into the bathroom to check her make-up and came out screaming. She claimed she saw the face of Melody Shimer in the mirror. Of course, nobody believed her, all thinking that Melody was dead. The next day they found the girl dead in the bathroom with the words ‘I will be back’ written on the mirror in her blood.” Jacob paused for a minute, looking around at the kids faces. A lot look scared to death, but some of the others looked as though it didn’t phase them. Jacob tried his best not to smile. “Even then some denied it was the ghost of Melody. That was until the Valentines day dance. It was a stormy night. Terrible to host a dance, but the school did anyone. Half way through the night the lights went out and many screams were heard through the gym. After a couple of seconds only one light came on. That was the spot light that shone on the stage. And there, standing in the middle of it, was Melody Shimer!” Jacob yelled, jumping up on the log he had been sitting on. A lot of the freshman jumped. “’What do you all take me for?!’ Melody yelled. ‘Do you really think you can kill me! I am immortal you fools! You all will pay for what you did to me! You all will pay! I will be back! And, when I am, mark my words, this town will be no more!’ And with that, Melody vanished. Now, she hasn’t been heard of since. Many say it was just a cruel joke played by one of the cheerleaders, but others know the truth. Melody is coming back! Will this year be that year?” Jacob asked, finishing up. “Think about that as you return to your tents and lay down your little heads. She could be back this year and there will be heck to pay.”
“Dude, that was classic!” Todd laughed, holding his sides. They were on their way back to Todd’s house, joking and laughing about what had just happened. That really was the ledged of their school, but nobody really believed it. It was just something they told to scare the freshman when they were most vulnerable. It was mainly a joke. That was until that very night. Jacob and his gang were stopped when they saw a dark figure standing in the middle of the street and started to walk toward them. They watched for a moment, wondering who else was out that time of night. When the figure stepped into the light they saw it was a girl. Her clothes were tattered and ripped and her head was tangled. “Hey, Little Orphan Annie, do you know what time it is? You shouldn’t be out wondering the streets by yourself.” Todd’s voice dripped with sarcasm, but the girl didn’t move. She was staring at them. If looks could kill, they would have already been dead. “Do you talk?”
“You think joking about my downfall is funny?” The girl finally spoke. Jacob gasped as her eyes begin to turn red. “You think it is funny that I am going to take over your whole town and make them into my zombie slaves?” Todd begin to laugh as the girl finished up.
“I get it. You are trying to prank us. Nice try.” He shook his head and started to walk away. He then found he couldn’t move. He looked back and the girl was floating in air.
“You two can be the start.” She informed them. After that she took Todd, Jacob, and the rest to the portal in the basement where she was supposably burned alive. I cannot go any farther than that, for I do not know what is beyond that portal. I do know, however, that they are her zombie slaves now. She and her clique of zombies are back at VHS and they are planning to take over. This time with a new approch. They will get close to each clique and one by one, make them into zombies. Melody figures this is a start. First the town, then the state, then the U.S. and finally the whole world would be made of her zombie slaves. Will anyone be able to figure this out and fight. Will this be a war against the kids in the school? Will the cliques ever allow them to work together?
